Veteran Trauma Therapy Intensive
The Lasting Effects From Military Service
A veteran trauma therapy intensive is a focused, multi-day counseling experience designed to help service members process military-related experiences and reduce their ongoing impact. After returning home, the residual effects of these experiences can remain long after service ends. Chronic anxiety, emotional dysregulation, hyperawareness, struggles with anger, or challenges in relationships, are all common patterns that can be found with struggling veterans. For others, guilt, shame, and various conflicting moral dilemmas may be a driver of such struggles. Still, for others it it may simply be that they feel disconnected from purpose or structure that once defined their daily life.
Regardless of what an individuals struggles are rooted in, a common denominator is that military experiences shape an individuals system, and how they respond to situations, responsibility, and the environment around them. Trauma stored within the body and nervous system requires processing. As the phrase goes, "the body does not forget." It is important to recognize that every service member’s experience is different, and the impact of those experiences remain, regardless of how visible or invisible the trauma may seem.
Why a Veteran Trauma Therapy Intensive Can Be Beneficial
Weekly outpatient therapy can certainly build awareness and offer support for service-related struggles. However, the trauma that many service members carry, is oftentimes complex and layered. To access and process these experiences in a professional and clinically appropriate way, a multi-day intensive offers the concentrated, structured work that is needed to move beyond surface-level coping skills. Multi-day therapy intensives can help you:
Process unresolved experiences connected to military service
Address patterns of anxiety, emotional shutdown, or chronic stress
Explore moral injury, guilt or unresolved meaning related to service
Reconnect with a sense of identity and direction outside the military
Reduce trauma-driven reactions that affect relationships and daily life
Develop a clearer path forward for continued healing upon returning home
Vine + Root intensives allow for focused trauma processing, often accomplishing months worth of therapy in 3–5 days. The goal is not simply understanding what happened during service, but reshaping how those experiences continue to affect your life today. By tracing the struggles back to their root, our intensive team can help veterans move toward lasting healing and renewed purpose.
Why Choose Vine + Root for an Intensive
Veteran trauma often requires more than supportive conversation. It requires clinicians trained to work with complex trauma, nervous system dysregulation, and identity shifts that can occur during and after military service. At Vine + Root, intensives are led by highly experienced, trauma-trained clinicians with advanced post-licensure training in EMDR, Brainspotting, attachment-focused frameworks, and Internal Family Systems-informed approaches.
Each intensive begins with structured clinical preparation to understand the veteran’s history, current challenges, and regulation capacity. This is not extended weekly therapy and it is not a workshop model. It is guided, 3–5 day immersive work designed to safely process service-related experiences and support long-term healing. Our goal is not simply to manage symptoms, but to address the deeper experiences that continue to shape emotions, behavior, and relationships.

Vine + Root has a dedicated Intensive team ready to tailor your therapeutic experience.
